THE GYM GETS PERSONAL

While achieving personal fitness goals can be a solitary journey, thousands of exercisers agree that having the support of a personal trainer can go a long way. The experts at Life Fitness are encouraging gym-goers to join them in recognizing the fitness professionals who make a difference.

With more than 26 percent of American adults overweight and obese[1], deciding to work with a personal trainer can be the motivating factor in establishing a successful fitness regimen. A knowledgeable trainer can teach exercisers the importance of nutrition, assess individual fitness levels, evaluate exercise and health history, and develop methods for building muscle and losing weight.

To celebrate the more than 261,000 personal trainers in America, Life Fitness has teamed with the American Council on Exercise (ACE®) to launch the first annual Personal Trainers to Watch program, offering exercisers the chance to say ‘thank you’ for the hard work personal trainers do every day.

To nominate a personal trainer, consumers, gym owners and fellow personal trainers can share stories of how their favorite trainers have helped them gain confidence, meet a weight-loss goal, develop an understanding of personal fitness needs, or simply fit into that pair of skinny jeans.

Life Fitness and ACE will recognize fitness leaders who demonstrate a growing commitment to fitness during the 2011 Club Industry Show this October, when the national Personal Trainer to Watch will be awarded $5,000 toward his or her personal training business, a select piece of Life Fitness equipment, an ACE fitness certification package. Ten finalists will also be honored for their fitness successes.

Can you think of ways your personal trainer has helped you meet a fitness goal? Take a moment to give them the recognition they deserve!
