International Women's Day 2022

Here at Life Fitness, people are at the core of everything we do. So, to celebrate inspirational women for international women’s day, we asked the women in our UK team to share the things they love about fitness, wellbeing and working in the fitness industry. We hope this inspires you to take some time to celebrate Women today, and every day.

Exercising lifts my mood, strengthens my spirit and sets me up for the day.

I personally enjoy healthy eating & exercising because I never feel ‘bad’ for doing those things. I never come out of a workout thinking I could’ve spent that hour doing something better. There’s been a lot of times where I’ve overindulged in snacks and wished I hadn’t done it, whether I was actively making healthier choices or not.  

It’s all about encouraging a positive mental/physical wellbeing, and not one glove fits all with that.  

Don’t get me wrong, my fitness levels can be much better than what they are, and I’m only just starting to make certain changes, but if I can encourage someone else to do the same then I’m already fulfilling what I’d set out to achieve.  

I watched a video of a Firefighter giving advice to overthinkers, but it applies to much more than that. It was along the lines of this: Stop thinking about the end goal, end target, end game as that can make you feel overwhelmed. Instead start thinking about the next step and just take that. The rest will come.”

As well as celebrating women, it is important to use International Women’s Day as a reminder to #BreakTheBias. We can all get involved by calling out bias, stereotypes and discrimination in everyday scenarios with colleagues and peers. Encouraging continued education helps to create ongoing change so we can get closer to a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination.
