Life Fitness inspires people to live healthier lives. Their commitment to well-being applies not only to its partners and employees, but also to the environment and communities in which Life Fitness operates. This perception is the foundation for the collaboration with Mercy Ships, a collaboration that Life Fitness is proud of.
The humanitarian aid organisation Mercy Ships provides medical assistance to the poorest in West and Central Africa on the largest private hospital ship in the world. In order to provide high quality care to patients, Mercy Ships can count on more than 1,200 volunteers from more than 60 nations, every year. By facilitating cardio and power equipment on board of this ship, Life Fitness has been able to make a valuable contribution to the Mercy Ships mission, particularly for its medical staff.
Creating a long-lasting impact, with and for each other.
Mercy Ships provides invaluable surgical services and training work to millions of people in need in Africa. Over the past 40 years, thousands of volunteer surgeons, nurses and healthcare professionals have provided medical care in over 74 countries, performed more than 100,000 life-changing surgical procedures and nearly 500,000 dental treatments. More than 250,000 people have also received basic health care education and more than 43,000 local health professionals have been trained. In addition to providing medical care, Mercy Ships is committed to invest in the local health infrastructure. This ensures that the positive effects remain visible for a long time after the ship's departure. In doing so, the organisation has helped more than 2.8 million people directly.
A thought that corresponds seamlessly with the mission of Life Fitness.
Mercy Ships is currently building its second hospital ship and wants to double its capacity. The ship will of course be equipped with the latest medical equipment to provide high quality care to patients.
Jacco Groot, Corporate Relations Manager at Mercy Ships, is pleased with the support from Life Fitness: "The new ship will of course have a fitness room, this facilitates the care workers with the ability to exercise in their free time, which contributes to good physical health. With Life Fitness, we've found a good and reliable fitness equipment provider that will keep our people on board strong and healthy for many years to come".
To meet the needs of the exercisers on board, the deal with Life Fitness consisted of cardio and strength equipment, like a Signature treadmill, Hammer Strength Benches & Racks, a Cable Motion System and multiple accessories.

Life Fitness willingly contributes to this, as everyone deserves a healthy lifestyle.
Mercy Ships does not differentiate between the involvement of donors or volunteers; you are always part of the family. And the same goes for Life Fitness. Its Family of Brands inspires, motivates and helps individuals and organizations around the world with unique fitness solutions for cardio, strength and small group training.
